The 6th Astra TV Awards are happening today, August 15, 2026, presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance — and this year's nominee list is one of the most stacked in the show's short history. If you've been debating with friends over who deserves the trophy, tonight's the night to find out.

The Frontrunner: HBO Max's "The Pitt"

Medical drama The Pitt leads the pack with a massive 12 nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Noah Wyle, and multiple Supporting Actor/Actress nods for Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, Isa Briones, Taylor Dearden, Katherine LaNasa, and Sepideh Moafi. That's an unusually deep haul — the show basically dominates its own category.
Close behind, Hacks and Shrinking are tied with 10 nominations each, followed by Abbott Elementary, Beef, and Rooster, all sitting at 9.

 CatComedyegories Are Wide Open

Best Actor in a Comedy is a genuinely tough call this year — John Cena (Peacemaker), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Steve Martin and Martin Short (both from Only Murders in the Building), and Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This) are all in the mix. On the actress side, Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams goes up against Jean Smart's Deborah Vance from Hacks and Selena Gomez for Only Murders — any of these could realistically take it.

Drama's Big Names Face Off

Noah Wyle enters as the favorite given The Pitt's dominant nomination count, but he's up against heavyweight competition: Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Mark Ruffalo (Task), Antony Starr (The Boys), and Billy Bob Thornton (Landman). Best Actress in a Drama is equally loaded — Zendaya (Euphoria), Keri Russell (The Diplomat), and Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus) are all strong contenders.

Limited Series Spotlight

The Beef and The Beast in Me both punch well above their weight in the limited series categories, with Claire Danes, Carey Mulligan, and Oscar Isaac among the standout nominees.

Why This Matters for Streaming Wars

Netflix, HBO Max, and Apple TV all have serious skin in the game this year, which makes the ceremony a decent proxy for who's winning the content battle in 2026. HBO Max's strength with The Pitt and Hacks stands out especially, while Apple TV's Shrinking shows the platform's comedy slate is finally landing.

What do you think — does The Pitt sweep tonight, or does the deep nomination count actually work against it by splitting votes across too many contenders? Drop your predictions in the comments, or vote in our Oxpoll poll below to see how your picks stack up against other readers.
